Free sharing of material on the internet- good news for businesses when it cuts distribution costs but bad news for people who want to protect their creative materials and ideas as intellectual property. 'Roar of collaborative culture' will change economics beyond recognition and corporations are forced to respond or perish. Artists such as Katy B gave away free 4 EP songs off her Danger Album allowing the audience to have a taster of the what album was like. The positive side of this allows the artist to share music freely but would link towards piracy. It doesn't allow the artist to protect their creative materials.
Thinking Globally
Web 2.0 makes thinking globally inevitable. The internet is the 'world's biggest coffee house', a virtual space in which a new blog is created every second. In this instantly global communication sphere, national and cultural boundaries are inevitable reduced. 'Harlem Shake' is a prime example that displays global communication. It began on February 2 by five teenagers from Queensland Australia known on Youtube as The Sunny Coast Skate. Allocca, some 12,000 Harlem Shake videos have been uploaded to YouTube logging more than 44 million views. On 2 February, the Harlem Shake video meme was born. By 11 Feb, YouTube claimed there were 4,000 videos being uploaded a day. The Harlem Shake has been filmed in a variety of countries like Egypt, Tunisia, France and UK
